Ever wondered when the ideal time is to take landscape pictures ? At dusk or dawn ? The Photographer’s Ephemeris (TPE) will help you out.
Landscape photographers typically wish to plan their shoots around the times of sunrise/sunset or twilight, or alternatively when the moon is in a particular place in a particular phase.
While times of sunrise etc. are readily available on various sites on the internet (direction of sunrise etc. less so, but still readily found), there are fewer programs available which combine such information with a topographical map allowing the photographer to match the astronomical to the location.
A typical use might be to determine when the sun will set along the axis of a mountain valley, or when a full moon rise will rise across a lake.
The application uses Google Maps providing users the ability to select a location and determine the time and azimuth of sunrise or sunset for a given date or dates.

Nikon recently published a nifty web based tool that allows you to simulate how different lenses ranging from wide to telescopic and different sensor formats can interact to create different photographs. Here’s the direct link to Nikon’s Lenses Simulator

2010 is already ongoing, so more than time for a ‘Best Of’. I don’t know how I should call it ‘Best Of’, ‘Most commented’, ‘Most viewed’, … hence let say these are the six most commented pictures by you folks. I would like to thank you all for visiting, commenting on my photo-blog, and keep on doing that in 2010.
Some special thanks goes to the visitors/commenter’s from the first hour like Robert Kruh, Reiner, Frida, Philip, Mike Blanchard … and all the others who are definitely not less important.

The latest 2 months I’ve had some huge issues with the speed of my blog. I’ve changed the fundamentals of this blog, installed various ‘cache’ plugins but nothing really helped or solved the speed of the blog. After some deep research on the web, I stumbled up on several posts on ‘Yoast.com‘ about WordPress hosting and speed, and after thinking it all through my choice became ‘Westhost‘. Already after the first few days, when I was working on the transfer, it became obvious that the correct choice of a hosting company is very important!
Now the blog is completely transfered (just some minor issues), I would like to ask you folks to update your bookmarks to Krims@nline.com and of course your feedreaders to http://www.krimsonline.com/feed or http://feeds.feedburner.com/Amemoryintheraw and for those who haven’t subscribed yet, make sure you do, to always receive the latest updates and news.
Thanks!
